Carne Asada Waffle Fries with Queso Blanco
These Carne Asada Waffle Fries are loaded with crispy waffle fries, tender grilled steak, and a creamy homemade queso blanco. It’s the ultimate easy game-day watching or weeknight comfort food that everyone will dig into.

Carne Asada fries are one of those comfort meals that taste even better when made at home. My family always loves them, and there’s plenty to feed a crowd!
Ingredients Needed
You can use my recipe for the queso blanco, carne asada, and guacamole. Or if you are short on time, then get store-bought versions.

I used frozen waffle fries, baking them until golden and crispy. Regular French fries are also an option, a more traditional choice, but I prefer the coverage waffle fries provide.
For the toppings, you can get creative based on what you like or have on hand. I went with onion, cilantro, and jalapeno. Other options can be Pico de Gallo, beans, shredded cheese, dairy-free queso, or sour cream.
How to Make
Start by marinating the carne asada. While it’s in the fridge, make the queso and keep it warm on the stove or in a small crockpot. Next, bake or air fry the frozen waffle fries.
While the fries are cooking, start the grill (it takes a few minutes to get a charcoal grill going). During this time, make the guacamole and prepare your toppings, or use store-bought versions.
Grill the carne asada for a couple of minutes on each side, then remove it and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing into cubes.

You can assemble the carne asada waffle fries on a sheet pan or let each person build their own plate. Start with a layer of waffle fries, then top with queso blanco, carne asada, dollops of guacamole, diced onions, cilantro, and jalapeños.
These fries are best enjoyed fresh after assembling, so dig in! If you’re making them for a party, keep ingredients in separate containers, the queso in a slow cooker, and the fries warm in the oven.
