Thai Basil Fried Rice

Thai Basil Chicken Fried Rice combines 2 popular Thai dishes, Spicy Basil and Chicken Fried Rice, for a One Pan Meal with Bold Flavors.

The Thai name for this dish is Khao Phat Gai Kra Pao.

Ingredients for Basil Fried Rice

White Rice, Mixed Vegetables, Onion, Garlic, Chicken Broth, and Butter.

Jasmine Rice, Ground Chicken, Onion, Red Bell Pepper, Soy Sauce, Fish Sauce, Basil Leaves, Eggs and Cucumbers

Heat a large pan or wok with 2 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add garlic and chopped jalapeño, then stir for a few seconds to release their aromas.

Turn the heat to high, add ground chicken. Once the meat is about halfway done, add soy sauce and fish sauce, and stir well.

When chicken is fully cooked, add chopped onion and bell pepper, mix well, and allow to cook for a minute to soften.

Add rinsed basil leaves and lower heat to medium.

Add cooked Jasmine Rice that has been cooled. Stir well and at this point, you want to taste for seasoning and add additional soy sauce or fish sauce if needed.

Plate the Thai Basil Chicken Fried rice and garnish with extra basil leaves, sliced cucumbers, and top with the fried egg.
